Adventures with Bolivian Soil

Tim Kileen, the expedition leader contemplates the distribution of gear. 11 people plus more gear (not pictured) ventured down the Rio Manupori for 5.5 hours until we reached our base camp This is an example of a soil profile along the banks. The base camp - a view from the outside of our tent looking towards one of the huts. Collecting water this was a blessing. it rained twice the week we were there. We were able to collect around 10 gallons of water, all which was consumed in less than a day - then drinking water came from the river. We had to take a GPS reading reading of our base camp so when we went into the forest we could find our way back.
